Life changes everyday and it’s sometimes hard to keep up. No matter what you’re going through, having a baby, downsizing your company or moving to a new house, you have to talk to your insurance agent about the changes that you need for your policy. Remember that having insurance to rely on for protection is always better than facing things alone. Here are some of the common situations that can affect your insurance coverage.
Getting Married or Divorced Marriage and divorce are both big life events that entail a lot of changes and preparations. If you’re getting married, you need to insure your home, get an auto policy under your names and many more. Getting divorced is the same as there are so many changes that need to be applied on your policy. What you have to do is to sit down with your insurance agent before you get married or get divorced. They can make the process easier as they know the ins and outs of their policies. Having a Baby It doesn’t matter if you’ve had two or three babies in the past, having a new member of the family warrants a talk with your agent. Policies change from time to time and what applied to your first-born doesn’t necessarily hold true for your second, third or fourth child. Stop assuming and get clear answers from the expert. Moving into a New House This of course is an obvious reason to talk to your insurance agent. Just because you already have a home insurance doesn’t mean you can just change the address to automatically apply to your new home. There are different steps to take including house inspection, ocular viewing and many more that has to be done to update your current homeowners policy. Buying a New Car Just like your baby, you treat your car as a member of the family. Therefore, you need to talk to your insurance agent before buying a new vehicle to learn the best way in protecting it. Chances are, when you talk to your agent, they can offer you newer and better ways to protect your vehicle. Take advantage of this situation and book an appointment with your insurance agent. The scenarios above are common occurrences that can happen to anyone. Your life changes should not mean that you are unprotected with insurance policies that don’t match your current situation. Insurance companies acknowledge these changes and create policies and extra coverages that are tailored made to fit them. It's good to know that you should meet with your insurance agent to discuss potential policy changes when you have a kid. My wife and I are expecting our first child soon, and we want to make sure that we still have all the coverage that we need. We'll be sure to meet with an insurance agent so that we can discuss this matter further.
