Tips on Babyproofing Your Home

​While I’m very sure that we protect our little bundles of joy by watching them with our eyes. Of course, we can’t be constantly vigilant, watching over our babies all the time will be so exhausting, especially if we don’t have anyone to help us with childcare.

So why not babyproof your home and save yourself and your childcare companion(s) the burden of having to constantly watch over your babies. 

Now baby proofing a home is a serious business and has to be done right. Take a whole day, or even a whole weekend to accomplish all the babyproofing you need.

Outlet Covers
The human body is mostly comprised of water, making it a good conductor of electricity. This is the hazard when dealing with electrical outlets as these outlets are just irresistible to babies. 

A variety of outlet covers are available in your local hardware store, you can choose the ones that have rubber prongs that you can simply plug, or you can get the full cover that can be easily attached and detached.

Baby Gates
If your home is multi-storied, a baby gate is a must for you. Baby gates are your line of defense, keeping babies out of areas in your home that are not completely safe for them.

There are pressure-mounted baby gates and there are hardware-mounted, we’d suggest that you get the latter as these gates are the only safe choice for the top of stairs as these can support your baby’s weight.

Cabinet and Drawer Locks
Your kid may have a ton of toys, but none of those toys will be more interesting than the kitchen utensils inside your kitchen drawer. Worse is if they pull on the drawer to its limit, the whole drawer can fall off and hit your kid on the head, yikes!

You can use the tried and tested adhesive locks, or join the rest of the 21st century and use Magnetic safety locks. These locks are found inside the drawers and use a key that has a magnet in it, high tech stuff!

Health Insurance
Kids nowadays are smarter than ever, and your little Mcgyver may just go through all the baby proofing devices you’ve set-up. Though you can get new ones and different kinds at your local hardware store. There’s nothing much better than getting a health insurance policy as your “plan B” if any of the devices fail, and get your bundle of joy injured, nowadays, it's better to anticipate the extremes of situations, especially when involving your baby.
